Discontinued, or simply becoming increasingly hard to find? We investigate NARS Monoï Body Glow, the cult-favorite shimmering body oil that beauty lovers refuse to let go.
There are beauty products you like. There are beauty products you repurchase. And then there are the products you start rationing the moment you suspect a brand might take them away. NARS Monoï Body Glow belongs firmly in the latter category.
Long before shimmering body oils, illuminating body serums and glossy vacation skin became beauty trends of their own, NARS Cosmetics understood something important: skin shouldn’t simply be moisturized, it should look expensive. Monoï Body Glow became one of the brand’s quietly iconic products, combining the sensorial fantasy of French Polynesia with a bronzed, sun-kissed finish made for bare shoulders, glowing legs and luminous décolletage.
And then there’s the scent. Intoxicating may be the only appropriate word. The combination of Monoï de Tahiti, tiare flower and warm tropical notes transformed a simple shimmering body oil into something closer to a beauty ritual. It’s the kind of product you remember wearing on vacation, to dinner, on a summer night, or anytime you wanted your skin to look particularly incredible.
Which brings us to the question increasingly surrounding this cult favorite.
Is NARS Monoï Body Glow Discontinued?
The short answer: not officially. As of August 2026, Monoï Body Glow I remains available directly from NARS in the United States, but there’s an important detail. NARS currently lists the product as Final Sale, and that’s enough to make longtime NARS lovers nervous.
The brand has not published an official announcement confirming that Monoï Body Glow I has been discontinued, and until that happens, calling the product discontinued would be premature. Calling it a rare commodity, however? We think that’s fair.
Before Shimmering Body Oil Was Everywhere, There Was NARS
Today, glowing body products are everywhere. Search for the best body oil for glowing skin and you’ll find everything from shimmering oils and bronzing lotions to body highlighters, serums and sprays promising vacation skin in a bottle. NARS was doing it long before the category became crowded.
Monoï Body Glow wasn’t simply body moisturizer with glitter suspended inside. It delivered a particular kind of radiance that felt sophisticated rather than sparkly: warm, glossy and sun-kissed. Think several days somewhere tropical without the UV damage.
The formula takes inspiration from Monoï de Tahiti, traditionally created by macerating Tahitian gardenia, or tiare flowers, in coconut oil. NARS combines that sensorial experience with shimmer to create luminous, beautifully conditioned skin, and completes the fantasy with a fragrance of tiare blossom, white frangipani, ylang-ylang and vanilla.
Unlike an obvious body glitter, the appeal of Monoï Body Glow has always been the way the oil interacts with the skin itself. Shoulders catch the light. Legs look smoother. The collarbone suddenly becomes an accessory. It’s sexy without trying particularly hard to be sexy, which is probably why people are still searching for it.
Nyah’s Beauty Edit: One of My All-Time Favorites
This happens to be, to this day, one of my absolute favorite body glows. I’ve tried countless beauty products over the years, but there is something about NARS Monoï Body Glow that I’ve never quite found duplicated.
It’s the combination. The warmth of the oil, the intoxicating scent, the way the shimmer catches the light without making your body look covered in glitter, and the almost instant transformation from regular moisturized skin to where exactly did she just come back from?
It’s one of those products I associate with getting dressed for vacation, slipping into something beautiful for dinner, or simply wanting bare skin to look exceptionally good. And apparently, I’m not the only person reluctant to let it go.
Why Does NARS Monoï Body Glow Keep Going Out of Stock?
This is partly where the “NARS Monoï Body Glow discontinued” conversation comes from. Over the years, inconsistent availability has made the product feel elusive. When a cult beauty product disappears from shelves or becomes difficult to locate, longtime users naturally begin wondering whether it’s simply out of stock or quietly being phased out.
Then it returns. Then it becomes difficult to find again. For beauty devotees, that cycle creates exactly the behavior you’d expect: stock up while you can. And now that Monoï Body Glow I is appearing under Final Sale on NARS’ U.S. site, those concerns aren’t entirely unfounded.
There is still no verified official discontinuation announcement from NARS for Body Glow I. But if you’re someone who already considers it a beauty essential, its current status is worth paying attention to.
What Happened to NARS Monoï Body Glow II?
Here’s where the Body Glow story becomes even more interesting. Longtime NARS devotees may remember NARS Monoï Body Glow II, the sister product to the shimmering Body Glow I. Body Glow II offered the sensorial pleasure associated with the Monoï formula without the bronzed shimmer of the original. It was essentially for the woman who wanted beautifully conditioned, glossy skin and that intoxicating tropical experience without adding noticeable color. For some devotees, Body Glow II was the one.
Today, Body Glow II is absent from NARS’ current U.S. assortment. We could not verify an official NARS announcement establishing a specific Monoï Body Glow II discontinuation date, so we’re not going to manufacture one for the sake of a cleaner story. What we can say is that the product has disappeared from the brand’s current lineup.
It’s one of those beauty discontinuations that feels particularly cruel because many people don’t realize how much they love something until they can’t casually replace it anymore.
And Then There Was NARS Orgasm Dry Body Oil
NARS also gave its body-oil universe an Orgasm moment. The NARS Orgasm Dry Body Oil translated the house’s famous peachy-pink Orgasm color story into an illuminating body product, delivering a sheer golden-pink shimmer across the skin. Where Monoï Body Glow I feels warm, bronze and tropical, Orgasm Dry Body Oil was softer and pinker, giving the skin an almost feminine blush of luminosity.
Released as a limited-edition product in 2022, Orgasm Dry Body Oil wasn’t positioned as a permanent addition to the NARS collection. Its disappearance is therefore better understood as the conclusion of a limited-edition run rather than NARS unexpectedly discontinuing a permanent staple. That distinction doesn’t make us miss it any less.
Monoï Body Glow I vs. Body Glow II vs. Orgasm Dry Body Oil
The three products occupied surprisingly different spaces in the NARS body universe. Monoï Body Glow I is the bronzed one, made for warm, sun-kissed luminosity and that unmistakable vacation-skin effect. Monoï Body Glow II stripped away the bronze pigment, making the oil more about conditioning, shine and the Monoï experience itself. Orgasm Dry Body Oil went in another direction entirely, creating a sheer golden-pink luminosity inspired by NARS’ iconic Orgasm shade.
If you loved one, that doesn’t necessarily mean another was an exact replacement. And that may be part of the reason NARS lovers have remained so attached to these products.
How to Use NARS Monoï Body Glow
Body Glow is at its best when you treat it almost like the finishing step in getting dressed. Smooth a small amount across the legs, shoulders, arms and décolletage, concentrating on the places where light naturally hits the body. Rather than applying a heavy layer everywhere, build the glow gradually.
For evening, concentrate a little extra across the collarbones and shoulders. For vacation, sweep it down the center of the legs for an elongated, glossy effect. NARS also notes that the lightweight oil can be smoothed through the hair for additional shine.
The goal isn’t to look glittery. The goal is to look lit.
Where Can You Buy NARS Monoï Body Glow?
As of August 2026, NARS Monoï Body Glow I can still be purchased directly through NARS Cosmetics in the United States, subject to availability. The current Final Sale designation is precisely why we’re giving this one Rare Commodity status.
If you’re specifically searching for NARS Monoï Body Glow II, discontinued NARS products, or the limited-edition NARS Orgasm Dry Body Oil, be cautious when purchasing through resale marketplaces. Beauty products aren’t handbags. Age, heat, storage conditions and whether a product has previously been opened all matter, particularly with oil-based formulas. An unopened bottle stored properly is very different from an unknown bottle that’s spent years in someone’s bathroom cabinet.
For us, provenance matters.
Why Cult Beauty Products Like This Matter
The beauty industry moves incredibly quickly. New launches arrive every week, TikTok turns unknown products into overnight sensations, and brands constantly edit their assortments to make room for what’s next. But longevity in beauty isn’t always about what’s newest. Sometimes it’s about the bottle that’s been sitting on someone’s vanity for ten years.
NARS Monoï Body Glow created an entire mood before “body glow” became a category. Warm skin, bare shoulders, a slip dress, vacation light, tiare and vanilla lingering against the body, and that slightly glossy sheen that makes you look less like you’ve applied a beauty product and more like you naturally exist under exceptionally flattering lighting.
That’s how a product becomes a cult favorite. Because when it’s eventually gone, you’re not simply trying to replace the formula. You’re trying to replace the feeling.
